SESSION 2: Professional and Engaging Delivery

Worksheets for each level:

SESSION 3: VISUALS

Key poster ideas to consider:

  1. Create a central starting point that has a key image and a 30-60 second main message--think your WAIAD statement plus a presentation opening.

  2. The starting point should be the brightest, sharpest image and the largest font. It should help people understand what you are doing and the importance of it and make people curious to learn more.

  3. The rest of the information is smaller font and distributed around the perimeter typically with traditional traditional journal article content headings.

  4. For this "rest of the information" clearly demarcate sections and make sure there is white space between them to "let it breathe".

Some key ideas

Change your relationship with your slides:

Try to move away from the slides being so central to your presentation. Remember people come to your presentation to hear from you, not to watch you narrate a slide deck.

And if you're looking for a specific how to (including the bonus work we did at the end) from the presentations visuals part of our workshop, you should be able to find it in the video file here.
