A Tested Framework for Research Presentations That Resonate
The content section begins with establishing 2 critical components: a simple, accessible description of what you are actually doing, clear defined goals about the purpose of sharing a presentaiton about it. The other 2 modules consist of establishing a compelling opening moment and anegagin trajectory as a well as covering the 3 Cs necessary for success: coconnection, comprehension and credibility.
The visuals modules cover everything from 10 rules for better slides to 5 functions in PowerPoint that every researcher should be using. These trainings are a combination of neuroscience about how visuals can aid with comprehension and memory to simple best practices for beta-testing your visuals before sharing in a big stage moment.
Presence is about both body language and voice as well as the tricks you need to help you get there. While most programs focus on specific actions, I help you both understand and then embody how your natural authentic presence is your most poewrful tool to engage audiences and create a lasting impact.
The final module is about Mindset covers not only managing anxiety and impsoter syndrome but also how to get better feedback, how to practice more effectively, and how to use video to augment external feedback. These are all shared with an eye towards the goal of being both professional and engaging by realzing the power of sharing the story of your research with an authentic presence that will allow you to consitently present excpetionally well.

Andrew is a fantastic presentation coach. I took his training session while recording lectures for an online course at McGill University. His training was incredibly empowering and I went from being nervous and a little bland to feeling quite confident. We learned a combination of general principles and specific techniques that I continue to draw upon in my presentations and lectures now. I would highly recommend him to anyone who wishes to work on speaking with passion.

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

"Andy is a genius at helping academics and researchers create better presentations and become better presenters in service of their work. I have worked with Andy twice-- he quickly absorbed the essence of what I wanted to convey and helped transform both the slides and presentation from a stiff, typical academic talk into a compelling story. He also imparted tips and tricks about creating and giving presentations that I'll be using for the rest of my career."

Andy’s training didn’t just help me present better; it helped me redefine my career path. After working with him, I took on a TEDx talk in front of 300 people. That’s something I never thought I’d have the confidence to do, but Andy was there every step of the way. And that experience, alongside becoming a 3-Minute Thesis finalist, transformed my career. Now, as a co-founder of a branding agency, I regularly connect with clients and industry leaders with a confidence I never had before. Andy’s training made high-stakes communication feel natural, and that’s been a game-changer in my career.

Working with Dr. Churchill was one of the most enjoyable learning experiences I’ve ever had. He was always very generous with his time and insightful. He helped me learn to see stories in places I never would have thought to look, and also to find strength in uncomfortable settings.
The practice I did in the workshop has bled into other areas of my life and changed the way I look at things. The art of presenting or storytelling is about more than just giving a convincing presentation. You can take what you learn and apply it to the way you live.
It's really worth all of your time and more. If you go in with humility and a desire to learn, then you will get so much more out of it than you can imagine. No matter what your background is, this program can inspire a positive shift in the way you do things.
Andrew is a great choice because he has so much to give and he gives so generously.

Andy facilitated a communications workshop with our finalists. Andy helped them improve their story, script, analogies, and their presentation skills, such as vocal delivery, gestures, body language, and using the auditorium space.
Our finalists were referring back to many of the points that Andy had made during the dress rehearsal, and we could all collectively see a huge improvement in everyone's presentations during the dress rehearsal and the final!

Andy creates a fantastic atmosphere in his classes, always brimming with energy and filled with invaluable tips! In February 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to present my research at CatIQ Connect 2024 in front of ~200-300 people from industry, academia, and government, where I was awarded as one of the top three students. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much I've grown since my first class with Andy two years ago, especially considering English isn't my first language, making presentations even more challenging. His guidance has been instrumental in my journey, and I'm truly grateful for all his support along the way!

I was fortunate enough to have been mentored by you for the 3MT competition in Winter 2023.
I am soon joining Yale University to pursue a PhD in Political Science, advancing research on the politics of indigenous self-governance and the environment. Through your presentations skills course and the 3MT competition, you equipped me with the skills and confidence to share my passion for research on indigenous peoples in India. This was immensely helpful in an academic conference I presented at last summer, where I followed your advice to present the results first to make the presentation more engaging. While this is only the beginning, I wanted to share my utmost gratitude for your encouragement and mentorship at a nascent stage of my journey!

A ten-minute talk. Piece of cake, right? I can do this. Not so fast. Sometimes they flow, but this time it just did not. Luckily, I was connected with Andy... You don't even know how much your speaking and presentations need help, until you have Andy helping. With almost ten years of experience in speaking, I had no idea the value of a speaking coach. Truly awesome experience.

He’s funny but serious when it counts, professional yet approachable, and always a man of his word. He even went the extra mile by organizing a private event with a live audience to simulate my competition experience—giving me a real shot at fine-tuning my performance.
Simply put, Andrew is the real deal. I’m beyond grateful for his guidance, and if you’re looking for a coach who will challenge you, support you, and bring out the best in you, he’s the one."

I met Andy as part of the GPDN conference planning committee in 2021. Over the years I have followed his many success stories as an expert presenter coach and use his examples for my students as well. I joined Andy's "Present Better" course and am extremely grateful for the immense value it provides. Andy provides easy to apply tips to give more effective scientific presentations focusing on different elements including voice modulation, visuals, organization of thoughts and capturing your audience's attention. The course is organized in a "hive" format giving the user the opportunity to access modules based on their interest. The flowsheets and graphics provided help reinforce the lessons presented. Andy is very approchable and instead of a lecture, the lessons feel like a conversation which I really appreciate! I would highly recommend this course to students and researchers!

Andy's approach is about allowing you to be yourself in front of a group of people. He doesn't try and get you to fit into a box or ridged ways of speaking, he encourages you to own your style so you and the audience can connect with what you have to say. Andy not only cares about his clients, he cares deeply about what they have to say - and that means a lot!

WHAT CLIENTS SAY

Throughout my PhD I’ve attended several talks and workshops on how to create and deliver an effective presentation. Andy’s presentation workshop was indeed the most comprehensive and transformative session I had the privilege of attending and learning from. He was quite efficient with the short time we had and shared numerous nuggets of wisdom. And the best part was the delivery of the information, which not only easily made it to my long-term memory, but also served as a living example of how to effectively present data. Moreover, his practice suggestions were spot on. I'm a classically-trained pianist and used to perform regularly back in the day. Andy gave very detailed examples of how to practice for delivering a presentation to a larger audience that paralleled how I used to practice as a musician before getting up on the stage. I resonated with everything he said intimately, as I have personally put them in practice and seen the utility of these methods. I highly recommend working with Andy if your goal is to reach the presentation efficacy and freedom you’ve always been dreaming of.

For Researchers Preparing Conference Presentations, Job Talks or Public Presentations
Learn the critical frameworks that separate forgettable academic research presentations from the ones that open doors and accelerate careers.
Methodology first, objectivity always, hundreds of references, slides as your notes. That model was built for journal readers, not live audiences. And now that AI will amplify whatever pattern you give it, using the wrong model doesn't just waste time—it makes or breaks your most important moments on stage.
The PresentBetter Program teaches researchers to rethink presentations from the ground up: how to engineer clarity without sacrificing the science, earn credibility the way audiences actually grant it, and deliver with the kind of presence that makes people want to know more.
Built on 15+ years of coaching 10,000+ researchers—from dissertation defenses and conference presentations to public talks and startup pitches—and designed for the AI era, where thinking critically matters more than ever.
