If you're an academic researcher, here’s another 👇
Give your abstract to 4 or 5 people
Ask them where they’d begin reading the article
(researchers typically say results or discussion)
Recraft your presentation to start there
And a note: resist the temptation to start with the abstract as overview and then go to the interesting bit. Start right at a result or discussion point and then give them the abstract. This format is much more likely to make people curious. Just ignore the voice in your head that says, “but this is not how it’s done.”
